Mackerel Japanese Broiled
1 pound of Mackerel (2 fish)
1/4 cup Soy Sauce
1/4 cup Mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
1 Tbsp White Sugar
1/2 Tbsp Grated Fresh Ginger Root
Fillet Mackerel (should have 4 fillets). Pat dry with paper towels. In a medium bowl, mix together the soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and fresh ginger. Place fillets in into the marinade, and let stand for 20 minutes.
Preheat your over broiler or an outdoor grill for high heat. Broil the fillets, basting occasionally, until the fish flakes easily with a fork, about 5 to 8 minutes. Serve with a lemon slice.
